Leaving the Shadow of Vancouver Island Behind

July 11th and the seas are going to be favorable for our stretch on Queen Charlotte Strait and Sound. We left Drury after a wonderful stay with the Allo family at their marina, through Wells passage and onto the Strait. The waters were flat calm and the day sunny and inspiring! The beauty of the coast is indescribable! Around every corner are more awe inspiring mountains, rocks and islets.

You can tell which way the wind blows!

As we weave in and out of the islets on the strait, we are treated to the sculptures of rocks and trees. These islet croppings are still the perfect spot for organizing the log booms.

The longest boom we have ever seen!

We continue along the coast and see to the west that we've left Vancouver Island behind and have the Pacific ocean now as our neighbor. Another few hours of glorious flat calm waters and we tuck into Miles Inlet for our nightly anchorage. The opening to Miles is like a gate to a secret garden with arms left and right from the center. The golden glowing sunset makes mirrors of the trees and we are snug away for the night.
