Deerleap re-engine voyage

Today, Richard was invited aboard Deersleap a 1929 fantail cruiser. She was on her maiden voyage after being re-engined with two Gardner Diesels. One from England and one from Vancouver. The one engine from Vancouver is from a fish boat that is now on display underneath the Granville Island Bridge. The owner is from Port Orchard, WA. Richard's bit of observed philosophy about this is that our objects continue on - we just maintain them until we die.

The copper and brass piping parts were all manufactured by the owner and they are quite beautiful.

Note that this engine room has a persian carpet!!

This looks like the engines go on forever -- but there are only two. What you see is a reflection in the matching mirrors on the fore and aft bulkheads. Now Richard is going to want mirrors in his engine room -- and maybe a persian carpet.

Here is the delightful Deerleap Fantail cruiser of which I speak.

Before leaving Windsong Marina at Echo Bay we were treated to an exhibit of Giclee prints by Allan Farrell (the ship-builder famous for China Cloud). The prints were being sold by his son, whom we met. We bought a small print which will be fun to remember our stay.

Well, two of our children and their families have moved in the past week and we haven't found out how it went yet. If said two children are plugged in and reading this, we'd like to know how it went.....

Note the Dickinson Flue Pipe Guards protecting the exhaust pipes (part number 17-140 x 2).

Also, I think this is the boat that I was recently called about to provide a 110DC-115AC power inverter (6kw!)

Nice Boat.

also, we love our house!

Make that three children, 4 grandchildren, 2 in-laws and a dog. It's a regular Tomkinson Family Migration, what with you guys chugging up north.
